Currently, COVID-19 is swarming all over the world. Many are sick, some have died, but most people’s health has been unaffected by it. During this time that we are laid off of work, out of school, and bored in general, we must take advantage of the resources at our disposal.
This is the first time in history that a pandemic has occurred when the majority of people still have reliable food sources. Compared to previous generations, we are still operating at a much higher level on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. Why, then, are we stagnating?
Even if we are working at home, finishing classes at home, or doing anything else, we still have a surplus of time, because we do not have to commute anywhere. The Internet is invaluable during times like these. There are many free classes due to COVID-19, including Coursera and Sophia classes, some of which you can earn college credit. Take advantage of this!
I have already earned an extra three college credit hours through the use of Sophia. I just started another Sophia course, as well as a short Coursera class on personal development. Let us make a goal to come out of this pandemic ahead. There is no need to stagnate. We can either dwell on how terrible life is that we don’t have jobs, don’t have social outlets, etc., or we can make this a time of great innovation and learning. No one is going to be holding your hand. In fact, some people may discourage this improvement, because it reminds them of their lack of desire to change.
Honestly? The choice is completely our own to make. No one is making you sit at home and feel depressed about the state of the economy or anything else. Likewise, no one can make you feel inspired to learn something. There is little inspiration left in the world. Use your own willpower for something good. See what you can learn today. I’d love to hear it!
